Why Hire A Private Detectives for Background Checks?

What is a background check?

A background check is a tool for preventive maintenance.  A background check is an investigation into a person's past which usually includes their individual identifiers (SSN, DOB, Aliases), contact information (phone, email), address history, criminal records, utilities, professional affiliations and licenses, bankruptcies, liens, judgments, property deeds, foreclosures, evictions, vehicles information, business affiliations, voter registrations, relatives, associates, and more.  Background checks can be performed on individuals and businesses and will contain similar information as the background checks on individuals but for the business.  The person or business being investigated can be referred to as the subject.

Who Uses Background Checks?

Background checks are requested by a wide variety of individuals, businesses, and organizations.
Some examples of individuals who request background checks:
  • Someone in a dating relationship or engaged and wants to find out about the other person.
  • Someone looking to hire a nanny or house sitter and wants to know if the person can be trusted with the kids and home.
  • Someone having a contractor do work at their home and want to make sure the contractor is no danger the the home or family.
  • Someone with a rental and is looking at a potential tenant.
Some examples of businesses that request background checks:
  • Property Managers evaluating potential tenants.
  • Day Care looking to hire an employee to work with children.
  • Private Schools hiring a new teacher.
  • Construction Companies entering into a contract with a subcontractor.
  • Attorneys looking into potential witnesses or clients.
Some examples of other organizations that request background checks:
  • Churches looking at volunteers to teach Sunday school.
  • Public Schools hiring new teachers.
  • Non-Profits hiring someone to handle the books and finances.

What is the Purpose of a Background Check?

The purpose of the background check is for identifying any areas of concern in the subjects past.  Some examples:
  • A person with 4 previous evictions is not a desirable tenant and could be considered a high risk for property damage.  Some tenants cause thousands of dollars in damage to properties.
  • If someone has been divorced 5 times before they may not be the best choice for being engaged too.  A subject like this could cause untold degrees of relationship damage not to mention the legal fees associated with a divorce.
  • If a subject has been convicted of a felony involving stolen property they might not be the best choice for house sitting.  The house will be unattended except for this subject, who knows what could happen while you are away.
  • If a concrete subcontractor has a history of liens and bankruptcy they may be prone to not completing work, not paying their debts, or a low quality product.  Hiring a contractor like this could create additional costs to the project that could have been prevented.
The background checks alert the requester to potential threats by the subject to the interests of the requester.  Knowing these threats ahead of time can save the requester money, time, and emotional strain.

On the other hand, the background check can show very positive results and confirm the subject has a low risk of potential threats to a request's interests.  A result like this can give a requester peace of mind and confidence in the subject leading to a very positive relationship.
Who Can Perform a Background Check?

Anyone can perform a background check because the information is public, for the most part.  The information contained in a typical background check is from databases all over the country and sometimes the world.  These databases are, in large part, put together by varying branches of the government, law enforcement, and courts. Because of the huge amount of sources of information it is easier for someone to pay a website, government agency, or private detectives to acquire this information and put it into a neatly organized report.  As much as people move around in this information age it is just not feasible for someone to collect this information manually anymore.  The databases are a great tool for keeping track of information but their weaknesses need to be known in order to perform a complete background check.

Websites - Background checks are mostly a amalgamation of public information drawn from thousands of information sources or databases.  Anyone can get on the internet and type 'background check' in the search bar.  They would get hundreds of results of websites advertising quick and low cost background checks.  For the most part, these websites just rely on their lists of public and easy to access databases for their information.  They do not take into account that all county and state jurisdictions keep track of this information in different places and in different ways.  And, some databases are more difficult to get access to because they don't allow just anyone (website, private person, employer, etc.) to access.  This type of background checks usually the most affordable.

Government Agency - Often a business or public organization is required to run background checks on new employees.  This requirement is set by regulating authorities such as city, county, or state governments.  Many times these background checks are performed by the state police.  These background checks usually are only state wide checks and are for criminal records only.  These are thorough checks but very limited to the state and criminal records only.  Much information on the subject is not even considered in these background checks.

Private detectives - And of course, private detectives are a source of background check services.  This is the most thorough background check that a requester can have completed on a subject.
Why Hire Private Detectives to do Background Checks?

There are databases out there that not everybody has access too.  Private detectives can submit applications to use the same databases that law enforcement agencies use.  To use these types of databases, a private detectives must have a license (requiring fingerprints and criminal background check), a legal business, secure files (paper and digital), and a lockable office.  These databases only cater to law enforcement, insurance companies, and private detectives.

What makes the background checks performed by private detectives much more valuable and effective is the extent to which the information from these databases are used.  All of the other performers of background checks just rely on the information their databases provide and stop there.  A private detective treats these initial background checks as just that, a first step to begin a background check.  The information is taken by the private detectives, evaluated, analyzed and taken to the next step.  This information is verified by checking with the local jurisdictions where the subject has lived in the past.  The Season21 private detectives know full well the limits of even the best database report.  The private detectives verify the subject's aliases and checks for additional information attached to any particular aliases.  The private detectives background check is the most thorough check that can be performed.  The private detectives are driven by competition to provide the best product for the money; this is not always the case with low cost web sites and government agencies.

So, please take all of this into account when looking for a source for having background checks run on individuals that may not be what they seem.  Your interests depend on it.
